MONOCHROME Montre de Souscription 5
For the fifth chapter in our Montre de Souscription series, MONOCHROME Watches has teamed up with Angelus to create its own version of the brand's refined monopusher chronograph. Named the Chronographe Tachymètre, we have opted for a Tachymeter dial instead of the original Telemeter design, and found further inspiration in vintage Angelus chronographs.
We wanted to retain the elegant proportions, a classical design meant to last, and of course, that superb monopoussoir chronograph movement inside. However, we felt a Tachymeter scale would be a better fit for our love for cars and racing, and a perfect match with our profound love for independent watchmaking.
Offered as a subscription watch with a maximum run of 20 pieces, our Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre is for sale for a period of two weeks only, or until all 20 are sold. The price for our Montre de Souscription 5 is EUR 18,500 excl. VAT. To reserve your Montre de Souscription 5, we request a non-refundable down payment of EUR 5,000 excl. VAT.
THA Roots
The roots for the Calibre A5000 monopusher chronograph that powers our Montre de Souscription 5 go back to the early 1990s and the consortium known as Techniques Horlogères Appliquées, founded by industry legends François-Paul Journe, Vianney Halter and Denis Flageollet.
With the rights to the movement now owned by Manufacture La Joux-Perret, which is part of the same group as Angelus, it is a perfect representation of our love for independent watchmaking and the iconic names that helpes shaped the genre.
A Pale Yellow Gold Dial
While we initially wanted a salmon dial as a continuation of our very first Montre de Souscription, going over vintage Angelus chronographs made us think otherwise. This, along with a back and forth with the Angelus team, resulted in the creation of this pale yellow gold dial instead.
Our MONOCHROME x Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre also changes from a telemeter to a tachymeter scale, graduated down to 30 units, which links to our passion for cars and motorsports in general.
A Single Pusher
The Calibre A5000 is a so-called monopoussoir, or monopusher chronograph, where all functions are initiated by a single pusher. Integrated into the crown, the chronograph is started, stopped and reset by a single press.
The sapphire crystal back of the MONOCHROME Montre de Souscription 5 reveals hand-applied haute horlogerie finishes, with bevelled edges, Geneva stripes, chamfered levers, circular grained golden wheels, polished screws and so on.
The details of the MONOCHROME Montre de Souscription Chronographe Tachymètre
The MONOCHROME "Montre de Souscription" by Angelus
"A mono-pusher chronograph movement developed by three of the most esteemed independent watchmakers, and originally developed for Cartier. That's the movement in our fifth and latest Montre de Souscription. This is the Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre Montre de Souscription 5, which is heavily inspired by vintage chronographs and relies on a brilliantly finished movement and elegant proportions," explains Frank Geelen, founder of MONOCHROME.

From Telemeter to Tachymeter
As indicated by its name, Angelus' version features a so-called telemeter scale. Our watch, the MONOCHROME x Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre, changes this, as it links the watch to ourpassion for cars and motorsports in general. Designed to record average speeds, this feature is mostly used in racing and pilot chronographs. For example, when driving a car over a distance of 1 kilometer or mile, the tachymeter will enable you to calculate the average speed that you're driving. Together with Angelus, we created a tribute to vintage chronograph watches, with a tachymeter scale graduated from 500 to 30 units, and a double-coil on the periphery. A rare feature, as snailed scales are often found in the middle of the dial.

While we initially wanted a salmon dial, talks with the Angelus teams convinced us otherwise. When browsing vintage Angelus chronographs, we landed on a pale 2N yellow gold dial with a grained finish, paired with black printings and polished applied markers and numerals, and luminous hands.

A Movement With Great Pedigree
Inside the Montre de Souscription 5 is the Angelus Calibre A5000, an incredible movement with a fantastic track record. The story of this thin, hand-wound mono-pusher can be traced back to the time when François-Paul Journe created a joint company with Denis Flageollet (De Bethune) and Vianney Halter, called THA or Techniques Horlogères Appliquées. That company created a very particular hand-wound, monopusher chronograph movement known as the calibre 045MC, housed inside a now-cult watch, the 1999 Cartier Tortue Monopoussoir.

The movement now known as the Calibre A5000 and produced by Manufacture La Joux-Perret for Angelus retains most of the elements of the classic architecture described above, with a compact timekeeping base running at 3Hz, with 23 jewels and a 42h power reserve. Looking at the movement through the caseback, you're first treated with a classic layout. In an era of automatic chronograph movements with a vertical clutch that leaves no space for imagination, it is simply delightful to look at this calibre. All gears, levers, springs and the column wheel are clearly visible.

The finishing is also appealing, with bevelled bridges, Geneva stripes, chamfered levers with straight-grained surfaces, circular-grained golden wheels and polished screws. Traditional, not overly demonstrative, elegant. For our MONOCHROME Monte de Souscription 5, we decided to use a version of the A5000 with a 3N gold-finished main plate and bridges, contrasting with the palladium-plated steel components in the chronograph mechanism.
L'abonnement et le contenu du paquet
We will offer the watch for subscription for a maximum duration of two weeks, or until all 20 pieces are sold. A EUR 5,000 down payment (excl. VAT) will be requested upon order. This amount is non-refundable and does not include VAT. Working with an independent artisan watchmaker means we can scale production while maintaining exclusivity.

When pre-orders are closed, Angelus will start working on our Monte de Souscription 5, which will come on a handmade mid-grey Nubuck leather strap with a stainless steel pin buckle. The watch will be delivered in a presentation box with an additional leather travel pouch inside.
Deliveries are expected in April 2026, according to Angelus' production schedule.
